The decade medians show a clear long-term drop in 0-60 mph times. The 1950s sit at 11.7, the 1960s improve to 6.8, then the 1970s and 1980s move back to 8.4 and 8.8. From there the trend turns consistently quicker: 7.6 in the 1990s, 5.9 in the 2000s, 4.3 in the 2010s, and 3.5 in the 2020s.
That arc suggests modern convertibles have become much more effective at putting performance to the pavement. Recent cars combine stronger drivetrains, better traction, and quicker shifting than earlier generations, and the medians reflect it. The strongest acceleration gains appear in the transition from the 1990s into the 2000s and again into the 2010s and 2020s.
