The decade medians show a long-term drop in 0-60 mph times, from 10 in the 1940s and 10.2 in the 1950s to 8.8 in the 1960s. The 1970s moved back to 9.8, then the trend resumed with 8.5 in the 1980s and 7.1 in the 1990s.
From there, improvement became more consistent: 6.1 in the 2000s, 5.2 in the 2010s, and 4.4 in the 2020s. With the field running from 1949 to 2026 and averaging model year 2008, the category shows how modern drivetrains, tires, and launch control have steadily reduced time to 60 mph.
