Early 1st Gen cars used 68–75 hp naturally aspirated gasoline fours; the 1978 CVCC 3-door Hatchback needed 15.2 seconds to reach 60 mph, while the 1979 CVCC Sedan cut that to 12.0. By the 4th and 5th Gen years, output rose into the 125–170 hp range, and milestones such as the 1991 EX Wagon at 9.0 seconds and 1996 DC Sports SiR LX Coupe at 6.9 marked the Accord's first clear move into quicker territory.
