Did you know that the creation of Infiniti required top-secrecy? We all know when car companies are developing a new car line; they do it in the most secretive manner. This is exactly what the design team at Nissan did when they were tasked to create the Infiniti.
Their task is to create a new performance car complete with luxurious amenities that can compete head to head with the luxury cars manufactured in the United States and some countries in Europe. And they were successful with their Infiniti creation because right now, it is one of the top cars in its class and coveted by many discriminating car drivers around the world.
A Glimpse at Infiniti’s History
Nissan Motors assigned a task force to develop the Infiniti in 1985. In July 1987, the new division was given a name, ‘Infiniti’. The unique spelling with four ‘i’s and the badge with two central lines looks like you are being led into infinity. This is what the luxury car model symbolizes – always looking forward to new horizons.
The Infiniti started selling in North America in November 8, 1989. But the Infiniti brand was formally introduced in Japan in 2013. This particular Infinity car model was a hybrid-powered variant of the Infiniti Q50. The standard gasoline-powered Q50 retained the original Nissan Skyline brand.
