About Lexus IS 250
The Lexus IS 250 is a good entry-level luxury sedan. If you are looking for a car now that you are on your way up, you need to consider this Lexus model. It has a sporty disposition combined with great and luxurious features that will surely befit your present status.
Even if it has a moderately powered engine, this car will provide you with the most attractive features of a Lexus car, and that includes a top quality interior, a complete array of high-tech features and an accurate steering.
A Short Look at Lexus IS’s Past
Lexus started selling the IS series in 1998. The term IS means Intelligent Sport. It was marketed as the entry-level sport Model below the Lexus ES and the Lexus GS. This car model was initially sold in Japan carrying the Toyota Altezza brand.
This was its nameplate until Lexus introduced the second generation IS in 2006. The third generation of the Lexus IS came out in January 2013. This new upgrade included the V6 powered IS 350 and the IS 250, as well as the F-Sport versions, new styling in its interior and exterior, increased trunk space and rear-seat room, new safety features and upgraded steering tuning and suspension.
Here are the most important specs of the Lexus IS 250 that you need to consider if you are thinking of buying it.

The IS 250 has power, although it is not as much as the power offered by its higher version, the IS 350. This is just natural since it is an entry level luxury sedan.
The seating position of the driver is lower by 20 mm compared to the previous IS models. This provides the driver a more intuitive quality to the feel of this current model. Together with the Adaptive Variable Suspension system and the F Sport trim package, you will feel less body roll and good control while driving the car.
This current model also offers more electronics than the previous model. It has the Lexus’ Drive Mode Select System which offers you driver-selectable performance settings. This enables the car to react sharply or softly according to your commands.
Even if the IS 250 is an entry-level car, it definitely does not feel underpowered because of its V6 engine that can deliver 204 horsepower. The car will enable you to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 7.2 – 7.9 seconds.
This Lexus models was given a fair-to-good EPA ratings. It is rated at 21 miles per gallon in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and a 24 mpg combined city/highway driving.
If you opted for an all-wheel drive IS 250, the numbers will drop down slightly to 20 mpg in the city, 27 on the highway and a combined 23 mpg city/highway driving. These figures show that there’s not much difference with the two types of wheel drives.
However, if you are really after fuel economy, you might need to look elsewhere because the IS 250 is not really a gas miser.
When it comes to safety, the IS 250 also offers lots of features that make it a real safe car to drive. Its crash test scores are good, although not really that great.
The IIHS has rated last year’s IS model with its best mark of ‘good’ in side impact and moderate overlap crash tests. It also considered the IS as ‘Advanced’ in terms of front crash prevention when the car is equipped with the optional Advanced Pre-Collision Systems Package.
The current model comes with ten airbags, blind spot notification, subscription-free traffic and weather updates included in its infotainment system, cross-traffic warning, and lane departure warning system.
Comfort and Quality
The IS 250’s build quality is excellent. It has a new Stratus Gray interior option that replaces the old Light Gray color. There’s also a black trim kit available for those who want it.
The cabin of the IS 250 is also spacious and very comfortable. There is more leg room at the rear as well as in the front. The quality of the materials used in the cabin is also very good. For instance, the rubber, plastic and other synthetic parts inside the cabin appears to have high quality and enhanced durability.
