Kia Niro Performance Overview
Kia’s Niro has been a compact electrified crossover line spanning 2017 to 2024, with 26 independently verified tests across hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric versions. In DE first-generation form (2017–2022), output ranged from 139 to 201 hp, and the performance spread was unusually wide for one nameplate. Early hybrid models set the baseline, including the 2017 FE EcoHybrid Hatchback at 8.6 seconds to 60 mph, while the slower end of the range came from the 2017 Touring EcoHybrid Hatchback at 10.1 seconds. The major shift arrived with the electric variant: the 2019 EV EX Premium Hatchback cut that to 6.2 seconds and also recorded the line’s quickest quarter-mile, 14.8 seconds at 95.7 mph, a pace matched again by the 2020 EV EX Premium Hatchback’s 6.2-second 0-60 run.
The SG2 second generation, launched for 2023, retained the same three-way powertrain mix and 139–201 hp span while tightening the overall performance window. Current tests show the 2023 EV Wind Hatchback leading at 6.5 seconds to 60 mph, with hybrids such as the 2023 Hybrid EX Touring at 8.3 seconds and plug-in hybrids like the 2023 PHEV SX Touring at 7.7 seconds. Today, the Niro sits as a data-defined multi-powertrain range averaging 8.13 seconds to 60 mph across the full test set.

How we verify Kia Niro performance data
We include only independently published road-test results from automotive publications. Manufacturer-claimed 0–60 times are excluded unless clearly labeled. When multiple publications test the same Kia Niro trim, each run is listed separately — weather, tires, surface, rollout, and instrumentation all affect results.
