Mazda Mazda6 0–60 Times

Mazda’s midsize sedan ran from 2003 to 2021, and across 31 independently verified tests it covered a focused gasoline-only performance arc from naturally aspirated four-cylinders and V6s to later turbocharged fours. The GG1 generation (2003–2008) opened with engines ranging from 160 to 220 hp, from the L3-VE four-cylinder to the AJ V6. Early results stretched from the 2003 i Sedan’s 8.6-second 0-60 run to the 2003 s V6 Sedan at 6.4 seconds, establishing the model’s initial pace baseline.

The GH1 generation (2009–2013) marked the quickest naturally aspirated period. Output grew to as much as 272 hp from the MZI 3.7 V6, and the 2009 s Grand Touring V6 Sedan cut 0-60 to 6.1 seconds while also delivering the model’s fastest quarter-mile, 14.6 seconds at 96.1 mph. Other second-generation tests remained in the low-to-mid 7-second range, including the 2010 i Touring Plus Sedan at 7.6 seconds.

In the GJ1/GL generation (2014–2021), Mazda shifted back to four-cylinder power, first naturally aspirated and later turbocharged, with output spanning 184 to 250 hp. Despite that downsizing, current-era acceleration matched the V6 peak: the 2021 Carbon Edition Sedan reached 6.1 seconds to 60 mph, while trims such as the 2014 i Sport Sedan recorded 7.6 seconds. That leaves the Mazda6 closing production as a consistent, mid-6- to mid-7-second sedan.
