Volvo V90 Performance Overview

Volvo’s V90 performance profile spans 2017 to 2022 in U.S. testing, covered here by 10 verified tests from the SPA-based Second Generation. Across those tests, the wagon settled into a narrow but useful band, with 0-60 times ranging from 5.6 seconds to 6.9 seconds. Output ran from 295 to 316 hp, centered on turbocharged and supercharged gasoline T6 variants before later mild-hybrid B6 versions added electrified assistance, giving the V90 a mix of gasoline and hybrid powertrains during its run.

The early benchmark came from the 2017 Cross Country T6 at 5.9 seconds to 60 mph, then the 2018 T6 Inscription lowered that to 5.6 seconds. That same pace remained the model line’s best through the period, matched by the 2021 T6 R-Design Polestar, which also produced the quickest quarter-mile result at 14.2 seconds at 97.9 mph. Other tested T6 versions stayed close, including the 2020 T6 R-Design at 5.7 seconds.

By the end of the covered years, the V90 had shifted toward B6 Cross Country trims, and performance eased slightly: the 2022 Cross Country B6 Plus recorded 6.2 seconds, while the 2022 Cross Country B6 Ultimate was the slowest tested at 6.9. As documented here, the current Second Generation stands as a midsize luxury wagon with consistent straight-line results rather than major generational swings.
