Toyota Avalon Performance Overview
Toyota’s full-size front-drive sedan ran from 1995 to 2021, and across 27 independently verified tests it shows a steady move from relaxed V6 pace to quicker six-second territory while later adding hybrid options. The XX10 Avalon opened with the 192-hp 1MZ-FE V6, with the 1995 XL reaching 60 mph in 7.5 seconds. The XX20 generation kept the 1MZ-FE but rose to 210 hp, yet tested slower overall, including an 8.7-second 0-60 run for the 2004 XLS, the slow end of the model’s recorded range.
A clear step came with the XX30 generation in 2005-2012, when the 2GR-FE V6 raised output to 268-280 hp and dropped the benchmark sharply; the 2005 Touring hit 6.0 seconds to 60 mph, establishing the model’s quickest recorded launch. XX40 cars from 2013-2018 broadened the lineup from gasoline V6s to hybrid 2AR-FXE versions, and the 2013 Limited paired a 6.1-second 0-60 time with the Avalon’s quickest quarter-mile, 14.5 seconds at 98 mph.
The final XX50 era, sold through 2021, expanded engine choices further, from the 205-hp A25A-FXS hybrid to the 301-hp 2GR-FKS V6. In current-page data, the best late car is the 2020 TRD’s 6.0-second 0-60 run, placing the Avalon’s final years at the top of its recorded performance range.

How we verify Toyota Avalon performance data
We include only independently published road-test results from automotive publications. Manufacturer-claimed 0–60 times are excluded unless clearly labeled. When multiple publications test the same Toyota Avalon trim, each run is listed separately — weather, tires, surface, rollout, and instrumentation all affect results.
