Lotus is a British car manufacturer known for producing lightweight, high-performance sports cars. The company was founded in 1952 by Colin Chapman and is based in Hethel, Norfolk, England.
The company’s first model was the Lotus Mark I, a small sports car that was built for racing. Lotus quickly gained a reputation for building innovative and highly competitive racing cars. In the 1960s, Lotus achieved great success on the racetrack, winning numerous Formula One races and championships.
Lotus has produced many iconic models over the years, including the Lotus Elise, Exige, and Evora. In 2017, Lotus was acquired by the Chinese car manufacturer Geely. Since then, Lotus has been investing heavily in new technologies and infrastructure. In 2019, Lotus opened a new manufacturing facility in China and announced plans to build a new electric hypercar, the Lotus Evija. The Evija is expected to have over 1,900 horsepower and a top speed of over 200 mph.
In addition to the Evija, Lotus has also announced plans to launch a range of new models in the coming years. These models are expected to be powered by a range of different engines, including hybrid and electric powertrains.
