About Lotus

Most British car manufacturers pride themselves with producing classic cars that exudes elegance and sophistication. The built cars that “only a Queen could ride” and yet had the power and capacity to run 0-100 km in mere seconds. Lotus Cars Limited placed itself in defiance to this norm and designed cars that looked fierce and fast.

History

As glamorous and fierce as the designs of Lotus Cars, its history is not as pleasant. In 1980, the Group Lotus, where Lotus Cars Limited belonged, suffered a major financial crisis. Their yearly production of almost 1200 units have been slashed by at least ¾ that crippled the company. This was mainly caused by the economic recession which halted most of its American demands.

By the time the company slowly got back to its feet, they decided to re-enter the American market. Through the help of numerous investors and interested persons, Lotus Performance Cars Inc. was born. It is an American company that breathe life to the Group Lotus. The US market quickly responded and returned their demand for Lotus cars like the old days.

Models

If you want a fast and mean looking car, the latest Lotus Elise S is the right one for you. Facing it, you’ll see a praying mantis looking to strike you. Its aerodynamic design gives it its sleek look worthy of the praise given by the British Top Gear team.

The Lotus Elise S has a 1.8 litre DOHC 4 cylinder, dual VVT-i, 16 valve with Magnuson R900 supercharger, capable for thrusting the Elise S from 0-100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. With a light body, it has no problem reaching its top speed quickly.

Innovations

For their plans of an electric car range, they intend to boast their engine capabilities. The Range Extender Engine is the perfect fit for their planned electric cars. With their signature low weight car body builds and sharp handling characteristics, this engine will surely bring their concept electric cars to the top of the competition.

The Range Extender Engine is designed to give electric cars the extra oomph in power and speed. It is a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder engine designed to power the car’s batteries giving it more power and constant push.

Power and elegance, which is what Lotus Cars are known for. Their cars have proven this through years of Formula One Participation and championship winnings. People who desire to have road legal fast cars should consider purchasing from this sports car manufacturer.
