Chevrolet Traverse Performance Overview

Chevrolet’s three-row Traverse has been tracked across 17 independently verified tests spanning 2009 to 2025, showing a steady shift from adequate family-hauler pace to quicker modern acceleration. First Generation models (2009–2017) used the naturally aspirated LLT 3.6-liter V6 at 281 hp, with early results clustered in the mid- to high-7-second range: the 2009 LTZ needed 7.9 seconds to reach 60 mph, while the 2010 2LT lowered the mark to 7.3 seconds and set the generation’s best.

The Second Generation (2018–2023) brought the Traverse’s biggest performance step. Engine offerings expanded from a 257-hp turbocharged four-cylinder to naturally aspirated V6 variants up to 310 hp, and the quickest example, the 2018 LT Leather, posted the model’s all-time best 6.3 seconds to 60 mph. Quarter-mile performance improved as well, culminating in the 2020 Premiere at 14.8 seconds at 94.9 mph.

Today, the Third Generation (2024–present) runs exclusively with the turbocharged 328-hp LK0 gasoline four-cylinder. In current testing, the 2024 RS reaches 60 mph in 7.3 seconds, placing the latest Traverse behind the quickest 2018–2023 versions but still ahead of most first-generation results. Across all tested years, Traverse performance remains entirely gasoline-powered, with no hybrid or electric variants represented in the data.

How we verify Chevrolet Traverse performance data

Records and averages on this page cover verified production runs only; modified and prototype results are listed by year but never folded into them. We include only independently published road-test results from automotive publications. Manufacturer-claimed 0–60 times are excluded unless clearly labeled. When multiple publications test the same Chevrolet Traverse trim, each run is listed separately — weather, tires, surface, rollout, and instrumentation all affect results.

Chevrolet Traverse performance FAQs

10 questions
The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse High Country does 0-60 mph in 7.4 seconds. In the same test, it ran the quarter-mile in 15.7 seconds at 92.4 mph. That current-year result comes from a stock AWD model with 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft from its turbocharged gasoline powertrain.
The quickest Chevrolet Traverse on record is the 2018 Traverse LT Leather, which reached 60 mph in 6.3 seconds. It also stands as the fastest stock Traverse tested. Across all 17 recorded Traverse tests, the overall average 0-60 time is 7.05 seconds.
The fastest stock Chevrolet Traverse is the 2018 LT Leather at 6.3 seconds from 0-60 mph. There are no modified Traverse runs in the records, so the quickest overall result and the quickest stock result are the same. That makes the 2018 LT Leather the benchmark production Traverse for straight-line acceleration.
Third Generation Chevrolet Traverse models, covering 2024 and newer, average 7.35 seconds from 0-60 mph across 2 tests. The quickest Third Generation run is 7.3 seconds, set by the 2024 RS. All recorded Third Generation examples use a turbocharged gasoline powertrain with 328 horsepower.
Second Generation Chevrolet Traverse models, sold from 2018 to 2023, average 6.69 seconds from 0-60 mph across 10 tests. The fastest Second Generation example is the 2018 LT Leather at 6.3 seconds. This generation is the quickest overall Traverse generation in verified acceleration testing.
First Generation Chevrolet Traverse models, from 2009 to 2017, average 7.66 seconds from 0-60 mph across 5 tests. The quickest First Generation result is 7.3 seconds, recorded by the 2010 2LT. First Generation models in the records use naturally aspirated gasoline powertrains rated at 281 horsepower.
The fastest Third Generation Traverse trim on record is the 2024 RS, which reaches 60 mph in 7.3 seconds. For context, the 2025 High Country posts a 7.4-second 0-60 time. That gives the RS a 0.1-second edge among the currently recorded Third Generation Traverse trims.
The RS is slightly quicker on record. Across Traverse RS tests, the best 0-60 time is 6.7 seconds, while the best High Country result is 6.5 seconds overall, but the current 2025 High Country runs 7.4 seconds. Within the Third Generation specifically, the 2024 RS at 7.3 seconds edges the 2025 High Country at 7.4 seconds.
The quickest Chevrolet Traverse LTZ run on record is 7.7 seconds from 0-60 mph. Across 3 LTZ tests, the average is 7.8 seconds. The slowest Traverse result overall is also an LTZ: a 2009 LTZ that needed 7.9 seconds to reach 60 mph.
