Many motorists dream of owning a BMW as this manufacturer is known to create luxury automobiles that are viewed as status symbols. However, the high price-tag that they are also famed for means that many believe that they will never get behind the wheel of one. This does not have to be the case, as you can find used BMW’s for a fraction of the price and there is one to suit practically every budget.
Here are the best BMW’s to look out for, with places like Motorpoint being a good place to look (for the UK marketplace).
BMW 5 Series (2003-2011)
Those that have always wanted to own a BMW but do not have huge sums of money lying around will be happy to hear that you can pick up this impressive vehicle for under £5000. 15 years after the unveiling, the fifth generation 5 Series still has a strong presence on the road and it is excellent value for money as it is built to last.
It has sharp steering, great handling and a powerful engine which sounds great too. As with all BMW’s, it has a refined interior, cool exterior and is comfortable for both driver and passenger.
BMW 3 Series (2005-2015)
Available for under £10,000 is the fifth generation 3 Series. This generation is known to be the best drive amongst other executive saloons, such as the Mercedes C-Class and the Audi A4. It has rear-wheel-drive which allows the front wheels to focus entirely on steering, whilst a great range of engine options provide plenty of power for an exhilarating driving performance. It also provides better fuel economy and lower emissions than its predecessor.
The Z4 is also available for less than £10,000 and is one of the more affordable used sports cars around. It may not pack quite the punch that you get with class leaders, but it is still a cool looking and fast car that is sure to turn heads. One of the main selling points for the Z4 is the surprisingly spacious interior, meaning that it is not your classic sports car and well suited to those looking for something more comfortable. The folding hard-top roof means that it is practical and weatherproof too.
This superb SUV can be found for less than £25,000 when you buy second hand. In addition to being one of the more affordable SUVs, the X3 is also a strong contender in the SUV market right now (a market surging in popularity). It has the unmistakable sleek design that the German manufacturer is famed for, but it is also very practical and great fun to drive. The main reason that it is more affordable than other SUVs is the fact that it does not have 7 seats, but those that require just 5 will struggle to find anything better than the X3.
As you can see, you do not have to break the bank to afford a BMW and there is a great used BMW available for every budget. No matter which you choose, you know that you are getting an elegant design, comfortable ride and powerful performance.
