If you see a Lamborghini Aventador in person for the first time, you cannot help it but be star struck even if you don’t know a single thing about cars. You know you want to take it for a quick spin but are afraid that a tiny scratch or dent will cost you a lifetime’s worth of work. Nonetheless if money was not an object and if there are hundreds of cars to choose from, you’ll grab the Aventador’s keys in a heartbeat and ride off into the sunset with the love of your life.

Come to think of it, many guys will make the same decision based on looks alone. However, this car is not just the all appearance and no performance type. Take a peek of what’s going on inside and you’ll definitely know why the Aventador is every man’s dream car.

As a V12 replacement for the maturing supercar known as Murcielago, the new supercar is a low but big and wide sexy beast. Manufactured using a carbon fiber monocoque and covered with carbon fiber reinforced plastic panels and aluminum, the Aventador sports a 6.5 liter V12 that allows you to accelerate up to 62 mph in less than three seconds and with a maximum speed of 217 mph. As if these features are not enough, Lamborghini’s engineers also incorporated a four-wheel drive along with a seven-speed independent shifting rods transmission. Try your best to keep your jaw closed because we are only scratching the surface.

Exterior

The bodywork is incredibly striking. Its width is almost twice its height with a wedge shape which follows sharp points and edges starting from the nose all the way to the tail. Aside from what you see at first glance, the wheels are worth delving into.

The car touts of 20 inches on the rear and 19 on the front. If these babies are not huge enough for you, upgrading to 21 on the rear and 20 on the front is an option. At the back of the wheels, you’ll find large front rotors, roughly the size of a round coffee table’s surface, and a formula one inspired pushrod suspension.

Interior

The excitement continues as you set foot inside the car. Since you are only four inches above the ground, it feels more like you are riding a skateboard and not a car. Nevertheless, the interior is draped with high quality leather, but if you want to throw in an extra $13,000, Lamborghini will gladly take off that leather for carbon fiber. The inside of this dream car is also outfitted with a digital dash, a couple of comfortable sports seats and a big red start button that will remind you of bomber planes from the movies.

However, you might be bothered with a lack of space and that’s because the Aventador was not designed to take the wife and the kids to Disneyland. One driver, one passenger who is preferably female and gear for a romantic trip is all that you can fit inside the dream car.

Driving Modes

Excitement turns into adrenaline as you get this one of a kind animal roaring. There are three modes in which you can get this car zooming on the road: Strada, Sport and Corsa.

1. Strada – As the Italian word for street, this mode is geared for slower acceleration. If you try to fly quickly, the computer reduces the ISR gearbox reaction speed resulting to erratic movements. Furthermore, the suspension settings are relaxed while the shifts are not as aggressive as with other modes. If you begin to slip, traction control will take charge.

2. Sport – Characterized as smooth and quick, this mode is the ideal compromise. In Sport, the engine roars louder and the bypass valves open up quicker. Moreover, you’ll feel the difference in terms gas pedal responsiveness. As with Strada, traction control will do its job if your drive gets a little out of hand.

3. Corza – If you want to show off and take your female companion for an adrenaline pumping ride, this is the perfect setting. Corza is meant for track driving with shift times as quick as 50 milliseconds and razor sharp acceleration.

Performance

While the car weighs at a minimum of 3,700 lbs, the Italian supercar possesses a V12 engine with a 710 horsepower that can erupt from 0 to 60 mph in less than three ticks. Stopping power is also impressive. Carbon ceramic brakes make it easy to go down from three digit speeds. Accurate steering and superb body control add to this car’s impressive list of features.

Conclusion

From every aspect, the car takes everything to the extreme. It offers extreme looks, both inside and outside, while providing extreme performance. With a $400,000 tag, the price is also extreme. Nonetheless, only a handful of cars in the world will give you appearance and performance to the highest degree, and those are essentially the reasons why the Aventador is every man’s dream.
