Are you undecided on which model to buy—the BMW 435i or the Infiniti Q60? Infiniti has given BMW a run for its money, with the Nissan luxury vehicle arm churning out luxury sedans that have been well-received by the public. This article pits two upscale, midsize cars head-to-head.

BMW 435i

The BMW 435i is a fast, smooth, and beautiful car. Under its hood is a turbocharged 3.0-liter engine with an output of 300 horsepower. The six-cylinder engine can also generate 300 pound-feet of torque at 1300 rpms.

It has an eight-speed automatic transmission that allows quick and comfortable gear shifts, something that has been a notable attribute amongst cars belonging to the BMW 4 series. Drivers may also switch to different transmission modes like Normal and Sport. The car has a maximum speed of 155 miles per hour.

The 435i has an automatic start-stop function that automatically switches off the car’s engine whenever the car is stationary and the person behind the wheel engages the brake. This results to greater fuel economy as well as reduction of the car’s emissions.

It is equipped with the active driving assistant program, something that is exclusive to BMW. With this system, drivers can avoid accidents. It has a lane departure warning which can detect the car driving over lane markings without signal. It would then signal you with gentle vibrations on the steering wheel.

There is also a decreased risk of accident thanks to the frontal collision warning. The system can sense when the car slows down to 10 miles per hour, and even when it zooms at higher speeds. It then pre-fills the brake so that collisions will be avoided.

The BMW 435i has an advanced navigation system which can show the driver of real-time traffic information. Its iDrive navigation system also features a rotary controller and touchpad so you can enter destinations as well as phone numbers.

On-board entertainment includes a premium sound system with 16 speakers. There is also satellite radio integrated in the 435i.

Infiniti Q60

2015 I Q60 ConvertibleThe Infiniti Q60 is available as a roadster convertible or as a coupe. It is powered by a 3.7 liter, six-cylinder engine capable of delivering 348 horsepower and 276 pound-feet of torque. With this powerful engine, the Q60 can zoom from standstill to 60 miles per hour in just 5.4 seconds.

The Q60 has a standard six-speed manual transmission, although you could opt for its seven-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of fuel economy, the Q60 can run up to 17 miles for every gallon of gas for city driving. When on the highway, its fuel economy number rises to 25 miles per gallon. Its top speed is 150 miles per hour.

The Infiniti car has standard features like dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights, parking sensors, cruise control and electric steering wheel adjustment. The car likewise has leather upholstery and multimedia package like DVD satellite navigation, Bose stereo system and rear parking assistance.

The Infiniti Q60 is not exactly built for tall drivers as drivers above six feet will find the interiors a bit cramped. But that should not be a major issue as the car has a power tilting and telescoping steering wheel. The car also has thigh and torso bolster that are fully adjustable.

Almost anyone except for seven-footers should find the front seat comfortable and spacious. However, the rear seats are small that only children would fit in.

Comparison

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price of the Infiniti Q60 is around $41,000. On the other hand, the BMW 435i starts at the $46,000 price range.

Although the Infiniti is cheaper than the BMW model, it does not really give up a lot in terms of features. In fact, it does have a more powerful engine compared to its competitor. Its 3.7 liter engine can give the 3.0-liter engine of BMW a run for its money. If you are looking for a car with a more powerful engine and sporty feel, then you could go with the Q60.

The Q60 also speeds up from 0 to 60 miles per hour at 5.4 seconds, just .2 of a second slower than the BMW 435i. But its top speed is a bit lower at 150 mph compared to the 155 mph of the BMW.

However, the BMW 435i is considered the better car when it comes to handling. The BMW car is fun to drive, aside from having more safety features than its competitor. Likewise, it has more trunk and interior space than the Q60.

Another reason why the BMW 435i is more expensive compared to the Q60 is the prestige that goes with the BMW brand. If you are conscious of the brand, then the 435i is the vehicle model that’s right for you as it is made by one of the most respected car manufacturers in the world.
